    Downtown South: Continental Seniors Centre

The Continental Seniors Centre is a drop-in centre that caters to people who live in the Downtown South area, including Yaletown and the West End. It has a large and bright “living room” environment attached to a partial wraparound large patio that offers a park-like atmosphere. Located on the third floor of 1067 Seymour, it provides a safe place for marginalized seniors in the Downtown South to drop in for social, emotional and practical support, in the form of information and affiliation with other programs, like the Neighbourhood Helpers.

    Facility Features

    • A living room environment. Like a home away from home, the Continental Seniors Centre is a great place to make new friends.

    • Leisure activities. Seniors are able to enjoy stimulating leisure activities, such as board games and karaoke.

    • Media. The centre has a number of newspapers and magazines, as well as a cable television for seniors interested in catching up on the news. Computers with internet access are provided.

    Services

    • Affordable meals. A low-cost cafeteria run by the City of Vancouver provides three nutritious and delicious meals a day.

    • Information and referral services. We provide one-on-one social and practical support to help seniors address their housing, income, and health concerns.

    • Social activities. Events we regularly or seasonally feature include movie nights, games, light exercise groups, and creative expression groups.

    • Special events. We have unique celebratory events every few months, such as birthday parties and holiday parties.
